Comparative study on two types of ethoxylation catalysts applicable for natural raw materials with hydroxyl groups
Dodecanol, stearic acid, oleic acid and cardanol were oxyethylated with oxirane on Ca, Al-Mg and NaOH-based catalysts to study the fractional distribution of the oxyethylene homologs by gas, liq. and gel chromatog. The Ca catalyst was more efficient at oxyethylation of acids while the Al-Mg catalyst at oxyethylation of the alc. and cardanol.
