Former mining and smelting dumps moved into the focus of interest due to their raw material potential. Today, with modern, adapted procedures of pyro- and hydrometallurgy, better possibilities of processing are available to enrich selected elements to transfer them for further processing. The recovery of tin from tailings of former cassiterite processing offers a high added value. By the reduction of the metal oxide and subsequent separation steps, a promising way is given for the recovery of tin from residues and the feeding into the raw material cycle.
