The light-induced gasification of waste-derived fuel
We have realized the effective approach of light-induced gasification of the waste-derived fuel. The coal-water slurry doped by waste petrochemicals was converted into the syngas by laser pulses (40 mJ and 10 ns). The simple experiment shows more than 30% conversion efficiency as well as an evident generation of CO and H-2. Together with this, the absence of CO2 inside the conversion products and fire-free "cold" processing of the initial fuel allow us making conclusion about good practical potential of the proposed way for industrial conversion of the wastes into the syngas. In contrary to catalytic techniques, the light-induced conversion does not need rare-Earth metals and other expensive components. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
