Com. low-d. polyethylene was blended with 2.5 or 5% by mass of montmorillonite and with 5 or 10% by mass polyethylene wax or ethylene/acrylic acid copolymer compatibilizer. The nanocomposites produced were studied for flammability, plastic flow and color. The addn. of montmorillonite resulted in a decrease of nanocomposite flammability.
