Analysis of Palladium-Platinum Catalysts Activity in the Process of Methane Oxidation by the SSITKA Method
Three bimetallic catalyst systems containing different amounts of palladium and platinum were tested in the process of complete methane oxidation. All catalysts demonstrate similar activity up to 780 K. Above this temperature, the catalyst containing the highest amount of palladium is expressly most active. Nonetheless, 100 % conversion of methane is reached at lower temperature on the catalyst containing the highest amount of platinum. These differences in the activity of tested catalysts result from the quantity and effectiveness of the use of the active centres on their surface. According to the SSITKA results the highest effectiveness of the use of active centres is demonstrated by the catalyst containing the highest amount of palladium, while the number of these centres is a more changeable parameter. In the 720-840 K temperature range it is higher, but below and over that range it is lower.
