Laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy of jet-cooled TiC: Observation of low-lying (1)Sigma(+) states
The TiC has been investigated using laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. The alr, a(1)Sigma(+), and c(1)Sigma(+) states are found to lie respectively at To = 3193, 786.0, and 1407.2 cm(-1) and have internuclear distances respectively of r(o)= 1.6607, 1.6906, and 1.6927 angstrom. Similar r(o) values of the b(1)Sigma(+) and c(1)E(+) states with that of the X-3 Sigma(+) state (1.6953 angstrom) indicate that either of these states could be isocofigurational to the ground state. Dispersed fluorescence suggests reassignment of the (3)Pi(1) state to a mixed state with dominant 111 character. Higher spectral resolution of the (1)Pi-X-3 Sigma(+) band provided improved molecular constants. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
