Fire-protective modification of epoxy resins
A corn. epoxy resin was modified by addn. of phenyl-isopropylphenyi phosphate and melamine pirophosphate (1-5% by mass) to decrease the resin flammability and studied by detn. of heat release rate, smoke release rate, time of ignition, smoke thickness, and toxicity of the volatile combustion products. The study was carried out at heat exposure 30 kW/m(2) in a cone calorimeter. The addn. of flame retardants resulted in decreasing the maximum ay. rate of heat release and smoke formulation as well as CO and CO2 emission.
