Use of hydrophobic layers to enhance heat transfer performance of industrial condenser. A critical analysis
The sp. thermal-hydraulic conditions on the heat transfer surface as well as on the shell-side of power plant condenser were improved by the use of low heat-performance materials (hydrophobic coatings) with a long lifetime and lower thermal resistance (10(-7) m(2).K/W). The computational fluid dynamics model of a power-plant condenser was developed and used to assess heat transfer intensification and increase in power generated by the condensing turbine unit. Lifetime of hydrophobic layers and effective range of thermal resistance were also estd.
