Moisture-stable Perovskite Material with 1,3-Propanediaminium Cation for Solar Cell Application
We report on the synthesis and the optical properties of a series of perovskite-type materials containing different organic ammonium cations. The band gaps of the series decrease with the increasing alkyl chain length and the number of the ammonium groups. The (CH2)(3)(NH3)(2)PbI4 (DAPPbI(4)) perovskite synthesized from 1,3-diaminopropane exhibits wide light absorption up to 950 nm and high moisture stability. A pristine solar cell made with the DAPPbI(4) absorber layer achieves a power conversion efficiency of 0.141% without any optimization. Our results pave a promising way toward stable and optically tunable perovskites for solar cell applications by altering the organic cation chemistry.
