Removal of Cr (VI) from Industrial Waste Water by Iron Nanowires Synthesized via Porous Anodic Aluminum Oxide Template
Iron nanowires were successfully prepared by electrodeposition method via ordered nanoporous anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) template since the technique is simple and cost-effective. The preparation of nano porous anodized aluminum template involved annealing and electropolishing as a pretreatment. It has been found that regularity of pores increases after the pre-treatment. The average surface roughness factor (R-a) was measured with the help of portable surface roughness tester. Pore diameter, pore density, porosity and uniformity of pores was determined with the help of image-J software. Morphology of nanoporous oxide and iron nanowires was confirmed with FE-SEM and EDS analysis. The pore diameter of template ranged from 105 nm to 120 nm. The fabricated nano wires were found to have length of 643 nm and diameter of 103 nm with unique environmental applications. (C) 2017 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
