Bottom sediments from backwater area of a dam reservoir at Dobczyce (Southern Poland) were sampled and analyzed for N and P to study the impact of flow changes on water quality. Both N and P were released mainly in the form of suspended and only slightly in a dissolved forms. Local concn. of the elements studied grew rapidly when the upper sediment layer got disturbed.
