Analysis of the v(8) and v(8) + v(9) band spectral regions of BrONO2 and first determination of the v(9) band center at 111.9(7) cm(-1)
The v(8) band region of BrONO2 around 14 mu m has been studied at high resolution. The band structure is highly similar to the v(8) band of ClONO2: in addition to very regular Q branches at the low energy side of the band and the main v(8) Q branch located at 722.4 cm(-1), a second Q branch is visible at 723.9 cm(-1). When attributing this peak to the v(8)+ v(9) = v(9) band center ( as in ClONO2), together with a very weak band observed at 835.8 cm(-1), one can determine the v(9) band center to be 111.9 (7) cm(-1), in agreement with ab initio calculations.
