Preliminary study on limiting accumulation of heavy metals in honey bee bodies by using extracts of Rumex crispus in the bee diet
MeOH and CH2Cl2 exts. of Rumex crispus were administred (concs. 0.01% and 0.1%) to honey bees (population of 100 bees) to decrease the heavy metals accumulation in the bee bodies. The accumulation of Ag and Ni increased and that of Cu, Mn and Fe decreased after administration of the exts. The administration resulted also in decrease in mortality of the bees and in an increase in the feed intake.
