Preparation and characterization of nano-sized FeTaO4/graphite for lithium-ion batteries
Nano-sized ternary tantalum-based metal oxide FeTaO4/graphite (FTO/G) hybrid composites were prepared using a simple method as a new anode material for lithium-ion batteries and its electrochemical properties were discussed for the first time. The FTO nanoparticles are homogenously embed in graphite nanosheets. The synergistic effect between nanosize FTO particles and graphite with high structural integration, leading to excellent electrochemical performances with higher cycling ability and better rate capacity than bulk FTO. In particular, the hybrid composites exhibit an actual reversible specific capacity of 223.3 mAh g(-1) between 0.001 and 3 V at current density of 0.16 A g(-1) after 100 cycles and deliver a stable capacity of 195.0 mAh g(-1) at a higher current density of 1.0 A g(-1) after 1000 cycles. The effects of graphite on the improvement of properties are also investigated.
