Effect of Supporting Electrolyte on the Color/Gloss Characteristics of Electropolymerized Oligo(3-methoxythiophene) Films with Gold-like Luster
Electropolymerization of 3-methoxythiophene in the presence of tetramethylammonium tetrafluoroborate produced gold-like lustrous films with a deeper yellowish tone and higher specular reflectance as compared to the previously reported films prepared in the presence of lithium perchlorate. The improved optical properties were attributed to the increased film crystallinity induced by the action of dodecylsulfate ions incorporated in the films and the lower polydispersity of the BF4--doped oligomers comprising the film.
