Measurement of solids flow patterns and velocities in cold models of a blast furnace by the Bore-Scope technique
A vertical tracer band technique and the Bore-Scope technique have been developed to measure solids flow patterns and velocities in a moving bed. The measured results show that a semi-three-dimensional (3D) model is useful to obtain the solids flow pattern as a whole. However, the diametrical wall friction gives rise to lower measured velocities and larger bottom-deadman size by the tracer band technique. The Bore-Scope technique is suitable to be used as an on-line method to measure solids velocities of higher realistic values in 3D moving beds.
