Fundamental characteristics of impact stress-induced displacement of powder beds in inclined vessels
This paper describes powder bed displacement in inclined vessels when an impact stress is exerted on the vessel. Four kinds of powders are used to investigate the dependency of the powder bed displacement on the bed height and the vessel material. The variation of the powder bed displacement along the bed height is also measured. It is found that not only the friction between the powder and vessel material but also the elasticity of the vessel material affect the powder bed behavior. As an intrinsic property of powder, compressibility appears to be a good indicator for flowability of the powder bed in inclined Vessels when an impact stress is applied at the base of vessels.
