Mono-dispersed and homogeneous CNT/Cu composite powder preparation through forming Cu2O intermediates
Mono-dispersion and homogeneous CNT/Cu composite powder with surfactant-less and controllable CNT compositions was successfully fabricated in CNT-Cu suspension by adjusting the pH value. CNT was taken up on the surface of Cu powder by an attractive potential and subsequently embedded in the Cu2O particles by a transformation from Cu to Cu2O. The dynamic process was investigated by XRD and SEM characterization. The embedded structure of CNT in Cu matrix was well maintained after reducing CNT/Cu2O powder under hydrogen atmosphere. Besides, auger electron spectroscopy (AES) was utilized to determine the content of Cu2O in the composite powders quantitatively. The results showed that the nucleation and crystal growth of Cu2O can be accelerated account for the existence of CNT, and the formation speed of Cu2O in CNT-contained suspension was 8.75 times higher than that of the blank experiment.
