Fly ash from coal combustion from a power plant was analyzed for content of rare earth elements (954.1 ppm) sintered with Na2CO3 at 500-950 degrees C and leached with aq. HCl. After sintering the fly ash with Na2CO3 at 500-950 degrees C, the rare earth elements were recovered in about 90%.
