Estimation of Activation Parameters for the Propagation Rate-Constant of Styrene
For a temperature range of -11.8-92.6 degrees C, the propagation rate constant k(p) of styrene has been determined with the use of pulsed-laser polymerization (PLP). The temperature dependency of the obtained k(p) data was evaluated using the Arrhenius equation. The NLLS error-in-variables method (EVM) is recommended for this fit. The resulting activation energy is 32.6 kJ mol(-1) and the pre-exponential factor is 10(7.66) dm(3) mol(-1) s(-1). A joint confidence interval for these parameters is given.
