Supramolecular Metallogels of Platinum(II) and Gold(III) Complexes
The search for low molecular weight gelators represents an exciting area in supramolecular chemistry. The incorporation of a transition metal center to organogelators integrates the unique properties of transition metal complex systems to the gelators, which would otherwise be difficult to achieve in pure organic systems. This review presents the recent advances in supramolecular metallogels derived from the self-organization of platinum(II) and gold(III) complexes with tridentate ligands, which are ideal candidates for the development of functional and smart materials.
