The tandem isomerization and cationic polymerization of a number of allylic ethers and allylic ethers bearing ester and carbonate functional groups was found to take place readily and to give polymers with high molecular weights. Polymerization involves, first, isomerization to the corresponding propenyl derivative, and then cationic polymerization of this latter species.
