Polymeric particle phase conjugator using degenerate four-wave mixing confocal microscopy
We have exploited a new microscope system for absorptive organic materials observation. The microscope includes a confocal optical system with a degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) system. The DFWM system increases backward scattering signal intensity. The DFWM causes wave mixing in a nonlinear optical (NLO) microsphere and generates phase conjugate wave by energy coupling based on polarization conversion. As a result, the experimental system, which causes energy coupling, can greatly improve in-plane contrast resolution of the existing microscope by applying it to observation of organic materials.
