Effect of emulsifiers on the stability of explosive emulsions
Emulsion-type explosives were prepd. by dissolving NH4NO3 and NaNO3 in water, addn. of a corn. emulsifier and emulgation with naphthenic or paraffin-naphthenic gas oils under stirring. The explosives were tested for spectral properties, viscosity and stability in a climatic chamber at 30 degrees C and -20 degrees C for 20 days. The emulsion matrixes were mostly stable enough to be used for prodn. of explosives.
