Synthesis, characterization and thermal decomposition performance of polyaminofullerene nitrate
A novel fullerene nitrate derivative, polyaminofullerene nitrate, with high nitrogen content was synthesized using bromofullerene T-h-C60Br24 as a starting material. The composition of the obtained product was determined as C-60(NH2)(24)center dot 1.3HNO(3) by ultraviolet visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. The thermal decomposition of C-60(NH2)(24)center dot 13HNO(3) was observed by differential thermal analysis and thermogravimetric analysis with infrared spectroscopy. The results show C-60(NH2)(24)center dot 13HNO(3) proceeded with a one-step exothermic reaction at 425 K. Kinetics parameters of the thermal decomposition C-60(NH2)(24)center dot 1.3HNO(3) were obtained from the differential scanning calorimeter data, and the reaction mechanism was found in Mampel power model. Our work prepared a novel fullerene derivative by a facile method, and it has potential application in explosives and propellants additives.
