PREDICTING THE PERFORMANCE OF PRESSURE-SWIRL ATOMIZERS
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the semiempirical correlations that are found in the literature by comparing them with all of the applicable experimental data that are also taken from the literature. Presentation of the semiempirical correlations and the experimental data is done and error analysis is conducted on the sets of semiempirical correlations. Results are evaluated by using two different methods. In the first method equation sets having the minimum error at each calculation are presented and their application range is analyzed. This resulted in separate equation sets for each calculation parameter. In the second method cluster analysis is conducted and a single equation set that could be used for all of the parameters is obtained. Comparisons between the equation sets are done at each experimental data point and their properties are discussed. It is seen that equation sets obtained from the minimum error analysis have smaller error values whereas equation sets obtained from the second method have the advantage of being uncomplicated.
