Study of single airborne particle using laser-trapped submicron position-resolved temporal Raman spectroscopy
Study of various molecules located in different positions and of their temporal reactions within a micro-sized particle in its natural phase is essential to deeper understanding the functions of these molecules. Here, we measured the temporal Raman spectra in different submicron positions of a laser-trapped droplet composed of diethyl phthalate and glycerol. Results demonstrated the micro-cavity enhanced effects, the morphology change, dynamics of phase-separation, and evaporation of the mixed droplet. This method offers a powerful tool to monitor various chemical reactions in different positions within a single cell, spore, or particle in life science and atmospheric science.
