A Feature in Magnetorheological Effect for Polysaccharide Magnetic Hydrogels
The magnetic response of storage modulus for polysaccharide magnetic hydrogels with high off-field modulus was investigated. Magnetic hydrogels with 3.0 wt% carrageenan or agar demonstrated drastic change in storage modulus even at high off-field modulus as high as similar to 0.1 MPa. Clear chain structures of magnetic particles were not found in SEM photographs for these hydrogels, indicating that the stress transfer occurs between magnetic particles via polysaccharide network without direct contacts between magnetic particles. A feature in magnetorheological effect seen in polysaccharide magnetic hydrogels is discussed.
