Energy use efficiency and economic analysis of peach and cherry production regarding good agricultural practices in Turkey: A case study in canakkale province
The aim of this research was to determine the input output relationship and economic analysis of the enterprises producing peach and cherry which applied and did not apply good agricultural practices in Canakkale province of Turkey. Data was obtained from 55 peach and cherry producers who applied good agricultural practices by survey method and the same survey was also conducted with the same number of producers who did not apply good agricultural practices for the comparison of the enterprises. The results showed that energy use efficiency in peach production was found as 1.01 in the enterprises applying good agricultural practices while it was found as 0.66 in the enterprises not applying good agricultural practices. According to the economic analysis results, the relative profits in peach production were found as 1.88 and 1.82, respectively. Energy use efficiency in cherry production was 1.03 in the enterprises applying good agricultural practices while it was 0.78 in the enterprises not applying good agricultural practices. The relative profits in cherry production were found as 2.05 and 2.00, respectively. According to the results, peach and cherry production by good agricultural practices in the region appeared to be more advantageous agricultural activity. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
