Development of a Selective Electrochemical Sensing Platform for the Simultaneous Detection of Tl+, Cu2+, Hg2+, and Zn2+ Ions
A 1-dodecanoyl-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2-thiourea (MeO-DPTU)-modified electrode was developed for the simultaneous detection of Tl+, Hg2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ in water. The sensing performance of the designed electrochemical platform was investigated using square wave anodic stripping voltammetry and chronocoulometry. The sensor demonstrated excellent stability, sensitivity, selectivity and reproducibility. Under optimized conditions (pH 6, deposition potential of -1.2 V, deposition time of 100 s), linear calibration plots were obtained for all the selected metal ions Tl+, Hg2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+ with detection limits of 0.27 mu M, 0.37 mu M, 0.52 mu M, and 1.0 mu M respectively.
