Composite materials based on polyolefins with new petroleum resins
We investigated the composition and surface energy characteristics-the surface free energy, its acid-base and dispersive components, acid and base parameters (according to the van Oss-Chaudhury-Good method), and acidity parameter (according to the Berger method) of composite materials based on the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with the addition of new aromatic petroleum resins in different percentage ratios. The thermal properties of the compositions were studied by the methods of differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravimetric analysis. An ambiguous influence of various resin brands on the thermal effects in the compositions was observed. The physical and mechanical properties of the compositions as well as their adhesion to metal substrates were investigated. A significant increase in adhesion, tensile strength, and in relative elongation could be achieved for ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers due to the modification with new petroleum resins. This article is the second part of a study on surface properties with new brands of new petroleum resins in order to optimize their selection for polymeric composite materials. Here, a comprehensive study on the effect of petroleum polymer resins on various properties of polymer composite materials based on ethylene-vinyl acetate was carried out. POLYM. ENG.
