Preparation of PA(6)-g-LCX-PAH fiber for removing formaldehyde
The innovative formaldehyde removal fibers (PA(6)-g-LCX-PAH) have been developed by grafting polyacryloyl hydrazid (PAH) onto the polyamide molecules with bridging agent of Polyketide amide (LCX). The effects of varied grafting parameters including reaction time, reaction temperature, the ratio of PAH/LCX, and pH value have been discussed in detail to optimizing the grafting conditions. PA(6)-g-LCX-PAH can be easily regenerated after treatment of glacial acetic acid at ambient temperature and the formaldehyde removal rate still reached 79.6% after repeated use for 10 times. The structure and morphology of PA6-g-LCX-PAH were characterized by SEM, DSC and FT-IR spectroscopy. It is concluded that the PA(6)-g-LCX-PAH is a suitable removal agent of high- or mid-concentration formaldehyde in a living or industrial environment. POLYM. ENG. SCI., 58:1652-1658, 2018.
