Adsorption and desorption of 2-cresol, 4-chloro-2-cresol and 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyacetic acid on activated carbons
The title compds. were adsorbed from their aq. solns. (0.25-1.0 mmol/L) on 5 com. activated C at 25 degrees C under stirring (200 rpm) and then desorbed by using aq. NaOH soln. (0.01% by mass) at 25 C for 8 h. The adsorption followed the Langmuir isotherm model and was closely correlated to the surface area of the activated C. The most efficient removal and recovery of the pollutants (55.3-69.5% and 57.7-73.4%, resp.) took place on the C resin with highest sp. surface, total pore vol. and the vol. of pores with diam. below 2 nm.
