Production of biodiesel by electrolysis method from waste cooking oil using heterogeneous MgO-NaOH nano catalyst
Biodiesel production was made by the electrolysis of the waste cooking oil by using heterogeneous nano catalysts. Seven types of catalysts (MgO-KOH, MgO-NaOH, CaO-KOH, CaO-NaOH, and combination of them) were prepared and the effects of different catalyst amount were investigated. The results showed that using MgO-NaOH nano catalyst weight ratios to oil (3 and 5) produced biodiesel with 94-98% yield. The prepared biodiesel was in accordance with the world standard of fuel ASTM and EN. Scanning electron microscopy images and X-Ray diffraction patterns of the prepared nano catalyst showed that the average mean crystal size of the particles was 66.77 nm.
