Hydrothermal synthesis of plugged micro/mesoporous Al-SBA-15 from spent fluid catalytic cracking catalyst
Plugged Al-SBA-15 with combined meso and microporosity was successfully hydrothermally synthesised from spent fluid catalytic cracking catalyst (sFCCc) as a single silicon and aluminium source. Al-SBA-15 and the sFCCc were comparatively characterised by X-ray diffraction, N-2 adsorption-desorption measurements, transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray fluorescence. The results show that highly ordered hexagonal SBA-15 was successfully prepared, and its N-2 adsorption-desorption isotherms present a two-step desorption branch with a pore-blocking channel feature. This finding provides a new approach to simultaneously reduce the production and increase the high-value utilisation of sFCCc.
