Coal dust was mixed with a shredded peanut shell or a mixt. of straw and hay (50:50 by mass) and studied for self ignition ability. Self ignition temps., humidity and apparent d. of the mixed dusts were detd. by std. methods. The addn. of peanut shell to the coal dust resulted in the significant decrease of the self ignition temp. down to below 100 degrees C.
