Development of Iron Encapsulated Hollow Beta Zeolites for Ammonia Selective Catalytic Reduction
We designed a high activity of NH3-SCR catalysts based on hollow beta zeolite nanospheres with encapsulated iron species, and these iron encapsulated hollow beta zeolites exhibited higher activity at low temperature (the NOx conversion similar to 45% versus > similar to 82% at 200 degrees C) due to the synergy between the Fe3+ species and Bronsted acid sites. In addition, the iron encapsulated hollow beta zeolites possessed an extensive operating-temperature window (225-500 degrees C, the NOx conversion was > similar to 92%) owing to the hollow structure and high Fe3+ content. Moreover, the resultant catalyst also showed excellent thermal durability and good SO2 resistance. Our present work not only provided a novel approach to achieve the high catalytic activity in iron containing zeolites but also paved the way to develop metal containing zeolites as efficient low temperature catalysts for NH3-SCR.
