Carbon paste electrode modified with AgFeO2 as an electrocatalyst with excellent activity for water reduction and oxidation
Exploring active and low-cost catalysts with superior durability for both oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions is a grand challenge to develop various devices for renewable energy production and storage. Herein, we report AgFeO2 nanoparticles can act as an efficient electrocatalyst for both OER and HER. A carbon paste electrode was modified with AgFeO2 and the fabricated electrode (AgFeO2-CPE) exhibited extremely low onset overpotentials of 28 and 317 mV for the HER and OER, respectively. AgFeO2-CPE as a durable cathode and anode showed good stability and superior activity in 1.0 M KOH solution and delivered 10 mA cm(-2) at the overpotentials of 37 and 400 mV, respectively. The results approved that AgFeO2 can be used an attractive electrocatalyst for renewable energy technologies.
