Synthesis and characterization of CaLaxFe12-xO19 by standard ceramic method
The aim of the present work is to synthesize calcium ferrite by standard ceramic method and to investigate its properties. The crystalline powder of La substituted calcium hexaferrite with chemical composition CaLaxFe12-xO19 have been chosen for their studies on synthesis, structural, electric and scanning electron microscope (SEM) properties. The prepared powder was characterized by using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and electrical resistivity method. XRD shows hexagonal Magnetoplumbite (M) type structure having unit cell dimensions 'a' and 'b' varies between 5.80 A degrees and 22.12 A degrees. The electrical resistivity shows the sample to be semiconducting with an energy band gap of 0.230 eV. The SEM image of the sample prepared appear irregular in shape but nearly vertically arranged and seemed to be hexagonal plate like structure.
