One-step synthesis of bimetallic Ni-Fe phosphates and their highly electrocatalytic performance for water oxidation
The development of highly efficient non-precious electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is of great importance for overall water splitting. In this study, we proposed a one-step hydrothermal method for the synthesis of high performance bimetallic phosphate OER electrocatalyst without any post treatment. We found that the introduction of iron into nickel phosphates can significantly enhanced the OER electrocatalytic performance. Owing to the good electrical conductivity, large electrochemical surface area and synergistic effects, the obtained bimetallic phosphates with optimized composition possess superior OER catalytic activity with a small overpotential of 0.25 V in alkaline condition. Importantly, the catalyst only loses 10% of current density after 12 h' stability tests, further confirming their excellent OER catalytic performance.
