Strong-coupled CoOx nanoparticles/Bi2WO6 nanosheets hybrid as electrocatalyst for water oxidation under alkaline conditions
Strong-Coupled CoOx/Bi2WO6 electrocatalyst was successfully synthesized via a room-temperature synthesis strategy by using NaBH4 as reducing agent, which provides enhanced activity and good stability for OER. Experimental results reveal that the CoOx/Bi2WO6 demonstrate the enhanced OER activity with overpotential of 490 mV to drive 10 mA cm(-2). The improved OER activity and good stability of CoOx/Bi2WO6 was attributed to the synergistic effects of abundant W-O-Co and Bi-O-Co species and oxygen vacancies presence in CoOx NPs, which can significantly increase the ECSA and active sites, enhance the electron transfer capacity, decrease charge-transfer resistance and improve conductivity in the process of electrochemistry. As a result, the synergistic effect of oxygen vacancies and strong-coupled endowed impressive performance of CoOx/Bi2WO6 for OER.
