Porous NH4NO3 was mixed with a fertilizer-grade ones (full content range) and then treated with a gas oil (94:6 ratio) to obtain emulsion explosives. The morphol. and crystal log. studies were made by IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The analyses showed differences in crystal structures of NH4NO3 surface and resulted in differences in absorption of the fuel oil.
