Effect of the alcohol type added to ammonium nitrate on the structure and morphology of ammonium nitrate-based explosives
Porous NH4NO3 was blended with MeOH, EtOH, i-PrOH, 1,2-propanediol, ethylene glycol and anhydrous glycerol and studied for its morphol. The replacement of gas oil with MeOH, ethylene glycol and glycerol did not result in any substantial changes of the NH4NO3 structure. Therefore, they can be used as fuel in explosives.
