A Kinetics-Free Approach To Safely and Productively Scale Up Isoperibolic Homogeneous Semibatch Reactors
In the fine chemicals industry, scaling up safely exothermic semibatch reactors (SBRs) is an essential issue. Since determination of reaction kinetics is time-consuming, it is highly desirable to develop a kinetics-free scale-up approach. In fact, if the laboratory SBRs are in the desirable QFS (quick onset, fair conversion, and smooth temperature profile) region, the industrial SBRs must also be in the QFS region as long as the dosing period and jacket temperature of the industrial SBRs are not lower than that of the laboratory reactors. Accordingly, we have developed one kinetics-free scale-up approach to safely and productively scale up the isoperibolic homogeneous semibatch reactors.
