Description of the shapes of water drops in the initial phase of falling
The water drops flowing from the nozzle were photographed with a camera. The images were transformed into a binary form. Their contour was detd. and analyzed by using the MathCAD program. The shape of water drops images was described by the equations of ellipse, oval and ovalized superellipse. The ellipse equation yielded the worst adjustments among all analyzed equations. The best fitting was achieved for the equation of ovalized superellipse but it needed a iterative detn. of the value of seven parameters.
