Modifications of the muds intended for HDD considering drilling through clay rocks. Comparison of ionic hydration inhibitors
Drilling muds for horizontal directional drilling (HDD) were modified by addn. of selected clay rock hydration inhibitors (KCI, K2CO3, HCOOK, CaCl2). Swelling and linear swelling of samples collected from boreholes drilled by HDD technique with modified drilling muds were detd.
