Green chemistry metrics for etherification of 4,4-biphenol
4,4'-Dihydroxybenzene was etherified with RBr (where R = CnH2n+1 n = 4-8 or 10) without any support (i) as well as under microwave irradn. (ii) or under ultrasonic radiation (iii) to the impact of used method on the reaction course. Yields of the reactions (i), (ii) and (iii) were 21-65%, 68-75% and 43-71%, resp. The reaction times were 360 min, 15 min and 10 min, resp.
