Five soil samples from industrial regions were studied for mobility of heavy metal ions by extn. with aq. HCl solns. (concn. 0.01-1 M). The solubility decreased in series: Zn > Pb > Cu > Cr > Ni > Cd. The Pb concn. was higher than allowable in all studied soil samples, the Zn, Cu and Cd concs. were crit. only in few of them, and Cr and Ni concns. were allowable in all soil samples studied.
