Catalytic properties of barium modified Ru/MgZrO2 for the isomerization linoleic acid to conjugated linoleic acid

A series of Ru-MgZrO2 catalysts modified by barium were prepared by a facile impregnation method. The structure and properties of the catalysts were characterized by means of HRTEM, XPS, XRD, CO2-TPD and H2-TPR. The hydrogen-free isomerization reaction process with high catalytic activity and low saponification was achieved by controlling the basicity of the catalyst. The key role of Ba in catalysis was also discussed. The conjugated linoleic acid yield reached 85% when the Ba content was 0.5%, and the catalytic products were mainly three kinds of isomers with biological activity.
