Modification of the Step Potential Electrochemical Spectroscopy Analysis Protocol to Improve Outcomes
Here we present an improved methodology for the analysis of i-t transients collected as part of step potential electrochemical spectroscopy (SPECS) experiments. This approach is improved over previous methodologies because it takes into consideration interactions between i-t transients resulting from subsequent potential steps in the SPECS experiment. The improved output of the new methodology is demonstrated with simulated and experimental data. The revised methodology also highlights the independence of non-faradaic charge storage processes, as compared to faradaic processes in which case i-t transients are demonstrated to have an inherent contribution from previous steps in the SPECS experiment.
